We set off to LKA on a cold dark December morning with our team. What a super end to the year. Calvdale Hearsay JW will henceforth have Sh Ch in front of her name (subject to KC confirmation) as she was awarded the coveted 3rd CC to crown her Show Champion. Thanks to all who have previously judged her and seen her potential. Thank you all and especially those three important folk who awarded her her CC's - Graham Osborne, Ann Webster and Freda Marshall.
Calvdale Costa making his Championship debut at 6 months and one week was winner of Minor Puppy dog and ultimately Best Puppy in Breed- Yahoo!!!!! Thank so many of you for the positive comments and we are very proud of this new youngster, all home bred from Calvdale Hearsay and Calvdale Night Court JW ShCM. What a pleasant outcome this pairing have produced.

At Gundogs of Wales Championship Show Calvdale Hearsay JW (Gracie) was awarded her second CC with BOB by judge Ann Webster after winning the Open Bitch class. Also at the same venue the ESSC of Wales held its Open Show which this year was judged by Scot Jim Richardson. He awarded Calvdale Zero to Hero JW Sh CM(Woody) Open Dog and Best in Show. Delighted with this twosome. Not hectically shown this year due to other commitments but always doing their best when we do get the opportunity. Thanks to the judges for appreciating these two today.
A long trip to Belfast Champ show to where I have to say we had an appalling entry of ESS unfortunately. Calvdale Great Escape JW Sh CM was RDCC and Calvdale Hearsay was RBCC on the day. Can only say I am happy not to make that journey as often as some do. The expense and the length of journey to compete against half a dozen dogs doesn't rank as worthwhile in my book. Sadly entries are down everywhere but that was a real 'down'. Expense is proving too much for many and sadly that means that several dogs don't appear to compete as often as they might otherwise.. Now home. Back to normality and actually celebrating our 40th Wedding Anniversary today as we had the party last week. Presents to unwrap and thanks to many for their generosity. Wonderful time spent with friends and family.
This weekend we attended Wolsingham Agricultural Show. On Saturday Calvdale Night Court JW Sh CM was awarded Group 1 and Angela's young male Polish Import WSS was awarded Puppy Group 1 under the breed Judge Sue Pollock-Yule and Group Judge Ruth Longbottom. This required us both to return for the second day, where Night Court delighted us by being awarded BIS by Mr Macauley. He was BPIS at this same show last year.

Well what a heck of a weekend. Started with Blackpool Champ Show Saturday. The ground I personally covered was no small amount with having to run between WSS and ESS rings. Don't begrudge a step. Was delighted for Angela and co owner Bonnie Scougall when I piloted their WSS bitch Ferndel True Story to win a lovely PG bitch class. Better then when she was awarded the CC and more to come when she took BOB all under Mr M Armstrong- thank you! Group ring was a delight and 'Nettle' loved the space and the opportunity to stride on. She was short listed in the Group under Freda Marshall - thank you. Not to be forgotten in the ESS ring Angela handled Calvdale Duly Noted to a very creditable 2nd in Puppy Bitch. Calvdale Quintessentially was 3rd in Grad bitch. Calvdale Night Court won Junior Dog and was awarded the RCC to add to his small but cherished collection and his CC gained at SKC. Still only 16 months and a lovely lad. Open bitch was won by the delectable Calvdale Diamond Heist JW Sh CM (Hesta). Love the bones of her and delighted when she was awarded her 2nd CC. Sunday saw the North of Eng Spaniel Club holding the Open Show at Hurworth. A local show and one we always support so off we went. Malek, Angelas WSS male puppy was BPIB. Also the good company of our chums makes the day go a lot further-thank you and a huge WELL DONE to Tammy Babester winning BIS with her lovely Cocker bitch. Crack on!

Today saw us making the long journey to Edinburgh to show at the Scottish Kennel Clubs Spring Show held close to Edinburgh Airport. Calvdale Night Court at almost 15 months was entered in Junior Dog and Calvdale Duly Noted in Puppy Bitch. Night Court (Thorn) our lovely black and white boy won his Junior Dog class and then came back in to compete against all the other class winners to challenge for the CC (Challenge Certificate). The judge, Gareth Lawler, picked out three dogs from the lineup that he wanted for further consideration and Thorn was one of them. A few more circuits of the ring and further assessment and to our huge delight Thorn was awarded the CC. Hopefully this is the first of many to come for this young man. In the bitch classes Duly Noted (Brenda) attained a third in a strong class and she did her best which is all we ask.
The bitch CC was also awarded to a youngster in the form of Peasblossom Moonstruck who was also black and white. Mr Lawler put these two through their paces and for once I was actually speechless when he awarded Best of Breed to Thorn -what an occasion!.

Long trip down to the Southern English Springer Spaniel Society's Championship Show held in Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire. It meant an incredibly early start and a long run to the show where we were to exhibit our dogs under Breed Specialist John Palmer (Roandew).
Young Calvdale Zero to Hero (Woody) added a further two class wins to his tally and this brought the final points wanted to add to his Junior Warrant. Have to get the forms in the post for both JW and his Show Certificate of Merit as both have been achieved and now add to his Stud Book number which was gained when he won the RCC at Gundogs of Wales back in October.
Our baby Springer girl was making her first trip out to take part in a dog show as she was 6 months and 4 days old on the day. A little overawed but in no way frightened she went round the ring to win Minor Puppy Bitch and Best Puppy Bitch and then woo hoo she was awarded Best Puppy in Show at her first ever show. Her registered name is Calvdale Duly Noted (Brenda) and we feel she has been on this occasion.
Calvdale Hearsay (Gracie) also made the trip and took an encouraging 2nd in Limit Bitch.
